 The "Yes & No" refers to this problem - the Yes because research shows it can lower cholestrol, the No because it helps less people lower their cholestrol and normally will not lower the cholestrol level by as much as a multi ingredient cholestrol treatment.

COMPARISON of the Cholestrol Treatments

How well do the cholestrol treatments work?

  Poli-Cholest and Policosanol cholestrol treatments, is expected to work well based on the research of that one active ingredient, policosanol. The more complex formulas, such as Cholest-Natural, LipidShield, Resterol and Cardio-Total, also contain policosanol in combination with other natural cholestrol lowering medications.

  Although Poli-Cholest and Policosanol uses more of the policosanol in it's formula than the more complex cholestrol treatments generally do, my feeling is that the more complex formulas may work better and work better for more people. 

However, all is not good with policosanol, as some research has shown that policosanol may not work as a cholestrol treatment - the bulk of the studies do, however, show it to be effective.  Due to the differing results from research on the use of policosanol for cholestrol treatment, my personal feeling would be to use with caution - wouldn't rely solely on policosanol alone.

Imu-Stat and Well Heart's active ingredients, based on some studies, suggests that these cholestrol treatments should also help to improve cholestrol as well, but the actual studies on the these two cholestrol treatments themselves, appear to be lacking.  Also the studies on the active ingredients in Imu-Stat and Well Heart are there, but they are small in number.

All the single ingredient cholestrol treatments appear to have quality, proven ingredients for lowering cholestrol.  Poli-Cholest, Policosanol, Red Yeast Rice, Green Tea and (I expect) Well Heart and Imu-Stat cholestrol treatments should all lower YOUR bad cholestrol.
